Together with the community, businesses, and organizations, the Planning Department strives to ensure that the unique qualities that make Dawson County a great place to live continue to be maintained. It does so by providing professional assistance in planning.
The Planning Department is responsible for the administration of the following:
- Subdivision Review
- Zoning Administration
- Floodplain Administration
- Occasional Grant Writing
The department also works with the local, regional, state, and federal entities on policy development to guide growth and provides staff for the Planning Board and Zoning Commission as they update such documents as the Growth Policy, Subdivision Regulations, or Zoning regulations.
Planning Board Meetings are regularly scheduled for the 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Dawson County Courthouse Conference Room.
Zoning Commission Meetings (for the Highland Park and Forest Park districts) are regularly scheduled for the 2nd Thursday in January, April, July, and October at 6:30 p.m. in the Dawson County Courthouse Conference Room.
